A Post a Day for a Week

Many of you probably noticed that I published a new post everyday this week. I mostly did this to see if I could but I also did it to see how it would effect readership and my number of visitors. One of my goals for this year was to write more often but I wasn’t sure how often I should write. This is my blog where I talk about stuff that interests me but I really hope you can get something out of it and enjoy it as much as I do. I have fun running a blog even if not many people read it but I also don’t want to waste time on it. Writing a new post everyday hasn’t been that hard but I don’t know if that is what you or I want.

When I login to Netvibes everyday I have over 40 RSS feeds staring me in the face and I know that many people have much more then that. If all the blogs you watch wrote a new post everyday you would get overwhelmed and the better blogs would be the only survivors. I don’t have the time or the patience to read every post from all the blogs so I have to pick and choose between the posts that look interesting to me.

What I’ve noticed is that the more popular blogs are the blogs that write multiple posts a day. It seems that writing more would have many advantages. The more posts you write the greater your chances are of writing something that is interesting to everyone. For example, one reader may not be interested in Post A but is interested in Post B, while another reader may be interested in Post A but not interested in Post B. It makes sense that writing more often would lead to more visitors. The only problems I can think of with writing more frequently would be if I became too busy or ran out of things to blog about.

What are your thoughts? How often should bloggers publish a post in general and how often would you like to see a post from this blog? I’ve really appreciated the feedback I’ve recieved recently and I want to make this blog better for you while remaining a lot of fun for me. Thanks everyone and by the way, there won’t be a post tomorrow!
