Today is Friday and I’m sitting on my couch listening to Episode 6 of the Random Shapes Podcast. I had nothing to do with the podcast, I barely know the people who made the podcast, but even so they said a lot of really nice things about the network.
Random Shapes is 15 months old. It has gone from 7 members to 70. I’m extremely happy with how it has turned out and where it is heading. But I hate letting it go.
I hate letting it go partly because I’m leaving it extremely unfinished. Random Shapes is all about bringing together awesome teens. In the next version of the site we will be really focusing on that. I’m glad I was able to give my input and help with parts of the site but I won’t be here to see it completed. I hate that.
I have spent thousands of hours working on Random Shapes and in return I’ve made $53.12. Obviously, Random Shapes has never been about the money. It’s about the people and I hope that never changes.
Random Shapes, I’m sorry for leaving you unfinished. I’m sorry I didn’t get to know the people better and I’m sorry I didn’t spend more time on you.
In the next 2 years I have high expectations for Random Shapes. When I get back there will be hundreds of members. What happens as a result of the community has been and will continue to be the most impressive part of the network and I look forward to seeing how the site has progressed.
Random Shapes, thank you and goodbye.

No apologies necessary. You’ve given us all a place to collect and talk and be teenagers, and that’s a great thing. You’re not leaving it unfinished. Random Shapes will never be finished, I hope. We’ll always be growing and expanding. And that’s all thanks to you. While you’re gone, I hope we can put in as much or more as what you have and what we have gotten out of it, and hopefully you’ll be proud at what you see when you get back. So thank you, Matt. Best of luck in Uruguay, and see you on the flip side.

I second Joey.
What you’ve done with Random Shapes is amazing; I’ve been with Random Shapes since (almost) the beginning, and watching it grow has been a wonderful, yet scary experience for me (I can’t imagine how it must’ve been for you), but I’m still amazed with the participation and closeness of the community.
You’ve been a great leader, Matt, and you will be sorely missed. We know you have things more important than finishing this design, that mockup, this forum post.
Best of luck in Uruguay and beyond,
- Lasse

Thank you so much for starting such a wonderful network. You’ve imparted so much of your leadership, knowledge, and vision to this thing that I’ll always see it as Mattbob’s baby, no matter where you go.
I really am very grateful for your contribution to TEH INTARWEBZ! Thank you, and best of luck! Stay in touch via IRC when you can!

no apology needed, as Joey said, we hope RS is never finished. You’ve been absolutely brilliant and while I haven’t always been heavily involved with the network, I still love it, well done
Enjoy your trip too.

You’ve been such a great leader. We’ll certainly miss your presence, but don’t worry, it won’t change a thing for Random Shapes. Hope you are enjoying in Uruguay
