Get Involved in a Community

A little less then a year ago I decided I wanted to be a web designer. I created this site and found a few local web design companies. I needed a summer job so I emailed these companies to see if one of them would hire me. One did. I did my best and learned all I could. I taught myself CSS and web standards and even a little javascript and PHP. All the things I learned over the summer were things I should have known before I even thought about becoming a web designer. I’m amazed someone hired me but I’m extremely grateful she did.

Summer ended which meant school started and I didn’t have the time to work anymore. I continued to play around on the web and I started my own blog. Having a blog opened up a …

Have Fun Making Some Moola

Update: I don’t have anymore invites left. Sorry.

Moola is a cool new site I’ve been having some fun with lately. It’s currently in beta but I can hook ya up with an invite if you want one. I can only give out 3 invites right now so first come first serve.

The idea behind Moola is pretty simple. Moola gives you $0.01 of real money. You play a Flash game against someone else. If you win, you keep your penny and you take the penny of the person you just played. If you lose, Moola gives you another free penny so you can keep playing.

Now that you have $0.02 and you can play level 2 against other people with $0.02. Just like before, if you win you get to take their $0.02 so now you would have $0.04. If you …

Spray Paint, Dry Ice, and Shotgun Shells

As of last week (can you tell I’m getting behind) I am finally legally allowed to purchase all of the above. I have also been given the privilege to vote, enlist in the army, and hold those cute little dogs in pet stores at the mall (I bet you didn’t know you had to be 18 to do that). That’s right, Cinco de Mayo was my 18th birthday and I finally had enough time to blog about it.

Birthdays are already getting kinda boring and I didn’t do much on my birthday. I got up the same time I always do, went to school, ran at my track meet, and did all the things I normally do on a daily basis. I didn’t even remember that it was my birthday until just before I left for school when my dad reminded …

1:58.73

I finally broke the two minute barrier in the 800m. I ran a personal record of 1:58.73 and never has accomplishing a goal felt this bad. When you finish a race like that your lungs and every muscle in your body hurts. Even those little muscles you don’t realize you have become annoyingly noticeable.

Three other people from my school were in that race with me and the four of us somehow managed to get 1st through 4th place. My school has never had four guys at the region meet run under 1:59 and never have they gone 1st through 4th in a race. Needless to say, our coaches were very pleased and so were we.

When you cross the finish line the feeling in your legs comes back and you realize how much pain you just put yourself in. The four …

Inspiration From the Reboot

So as many of you know yesterday was the CSS Reboot and it was pretty exciting. Early in the day the site had some server issues but other then that it went pretty smoothly from what I can tell. I had planned on rebooting this site but I didn’t give myself enough time to finish it. A number of the designs were pure inspiration. I knew there was gonna be some great redesigns but some of them just blew me away and deserve more recognition. Here are some of my favorite, less recognized, designs from the reboot in no particular order.

Total Spore

Have you ever heard of the upcoming game called Spore? Well I hadn’t until I saw this site and now I can’t wait to play it. The site is designed and maintained by …
