This may not seem suprising to you but it is if you live in Arizona. I’ve lived here for 12 years and I’ve never seen snow anywhere near where I live. These mountains are about 30 minutes away from my house so I picked up 2 of my friends and we had to go play in the snow. We went to a place where we like to go paintballing that is really close to this picture. Hundreds of people had parked their cars along the highway and built little snowmens from the few inches of snow that had fallen. There was enough snow (maybe 4-5 inches) in places to have a decent snowball fight.
I really need to get a camera.
It’s raining here in Arizona for the first time in 143 days yet I still wish I was in Austin. I love the rain and I don’t get to play in it as much as I’d like but the SXSW Interactive Festival is underway and I’d rather be there. Next year I’m definitely gonna go and maybe meet up with some of my Random Shapes friends because it’s just too cool to miss.
Luckily everyone seems to be blogging about it so I get to read about what’s going on. Not sure if that makes me more jealous or not but I like reading about it anyways.
To everyone who is at SXSW Interactive I hope you have a great time but I have a few requests. Fill me in on what I’m missing, post about everything, write about …
Step 1 – Make something cool.
Step 2 – Tell people about it.
Refresh Phoenix was yesterday and I left with the greatest feeling of motivation and drive that I need to really make Random Shapes into what I want it to be. I have all the resources I need for the network to be great, I just need to use them correctly. Refresh Phoenix is so incredible because it combines all these different types of people together. Many of the Refreshers have really cool ideas and if all these different people worked together on their ideas they could make some of the coolest stuff ever, and not just on the web.
Grid7 wants to help those people with cool ideas get started on their projects. Grid7 is a company that “helps you put your big ideas in motion by …
So much has happened since the last Refresh meeting that I feel like I missed a month somewhere. The March Refresh Phoenix meeting is tomorrow and the guys from Grid7 will be giving a presentation. The meeting will be held at Inza Coffee. It’s the same place it just has a new name and a new owner.
For those people who went to the last meeting, do you remember the discussion we had about Google and Amazon and how they know everything? Take a look at this. Doesn’t that fit perfectly with what we talked about. Weird huh?
Since the last Refresh the cool guys at 30 Second Rule started the Refreshing Cities website to link all the sprouting Refresh groups together. All it took to get the Refresh movement really spreading was a post from someone …
Sorry for the lack of posts. I was doing so well too and then I had one of the craziest weeks of my life.
On Monday I stayed up late trying to pump out the Random Shapes site and worked late again on Tuesday night. I got the site done just in time for the launch on Wednesday. Wednesday was the craziest day of all. Within an hour of launching the network I already had over a hundred visitors and tons of emails. That was the longest day of school ever. All I could think about was the network but I didn’t have any way of checking up on things. To make things worse that was also the day of my very first track meet so I didn’t get home until 7:30 at night. I ran fast enough to be …
