Indie Virus

Who says you have to have a virus to spread it? Chris Pearson came up with The Indie Virus idea and I’m gonna help him spread the virus to some unsuspecting victims. The goal is to bring exposure to lesser known blogs and explore the metrics behind a viral linking campaign. It’s a simple experiment that looks interesting and it’s not hard to participate.

Participating in The Indie Virus is easy. All you’ve got to do is link to lesser known blogs from within a post (or two, or eleventeen), but you have to make sure that the anchor text of your link is The Indie Virus.

For starters I’m going to push The Indie Virus in the direction of Chartreuse for being the first person to leave a comment on the Random Shapes site and for his …

Joga, It’s a Beautiful Thing

Google and Nike have joined forces to create Joga, a “community for soccer players dedicated to keeping the game beautiful.” This is the coolest thing Google has ever done!! I’ve been playing soccer for 10 years both online and offline. I’m no Freddy Adu but I’m always up for a good pick up game.

Joga is unique, because it’s an organically growing network of trusted friends. It is one of a kind network that focuses solely on a common interest around the game of soccer. Joga will help you connect to people who share the same passion for the game and also access exclusive content around athlete profiles, video clips and photos.

It’s interesting to me that they use soccer instead of football since the US is the only country that even calls the sport soccer. Heck, they don’t even show …

Caught Creatures

Caught Creatures is the creation of artist and illustrator Daniel Davis. It’s “the world’s finest Art-Haiku-Monster book,” and it’s not just for kids. In Daniel’s words:

It’s a monster-art-haiku book, good for kids, good for adults who think like kids. I made sure that it was printed with high-quality, heavy paper stock, with a matte finish on the perfect bound cover. It’s nice and heavy, with 48 full-color pages.

I get a chance to talk with Daniel at the Refresh Phoenix meetings and he showed me a few more of his illustrations. They are totally awesome and you can see more of his work and drawings on his site. Here’s an interview I did with him a few days ago about his work. I hope you enjoy it!

Matt: What motivated you to …

Performancing - Helping Bloggers Succeed

Performancing.com is a group weblog written by professional bloggers, for professional bloggers.

The guys at Performancing first caught my attention with their awesome Firefox extension that allows you to write and publish blog posts directly from your browser. It’s an awesome tool and I highly recommend it. It helps me save time and comes with a handy spell checker. It’s what I’m using right now to write this post and it’s what I’ve used to write almost all of the posts in the past.

Since I found their site I’ve been reading their blog almost everyday and I’ve been very impressed with their content. They really are “Helping Bloggers Suceed” like their slogan says. To go with their superb blog they have an awesome forum where you can learn a lot about blogging in general and get help on …

Interviewed on Blog Herald

David Krug interviewed me a few days ago for Blog Herald about the Random Shapes Network. It’s been really cool working with him and I’m amazed at all the positive reactions we’re getting. Thanks David for the interview and a big thank you to all the RS members for making this work. The next couple months and the next couple years are gonna be fun! You can read the interview here.
