Most of the people I’ve spoken with recently have suggested that it might be a good idea to go to college and it might not. Some think I’m crazy to not want to go to college and some agree I will be wasting my time, but I haven’t really been persuaded either way by anybody. Only I can know what the best decision will be but I like getting as much input as I can from those who have already been there and done that.
Both of my parents graduated from college and my dad went on to get a law degree. My older brother graduated last year from the University of Arizona with 2 majors and 2 minors and is currently attending UCLA working towards receiving his PhD in linguistics. He originally wanted to be an optical engineer …
I found this on Frederik Hermann’s blog. I think too often teens are criticized about running blogs that are pointless or give too much information about themselves. Maybe it’s true but teens aren’t the only ones. Good teen blogs are hard to come by but they are out there. I wrote a post a few weeks back about a survey that stated 1 in 5 teens have their own blog. My guess is about 1 in 1000 of teens have an incredible blog and I want to read about it.
If you’re one of those teens with an incredible blog. Let me know!
The sentences below were taken directly from the notes I took in my notebook during the Ruby meeting last night (except for the links, I don’t know how to do that in a notebook yet). I obviously need to spend more time learning Ruby on my own.
They have snacks and drinks for everybody in the back of the room. I think they are provided by Cyclone Commerce who is also providing the building. The room we meet in is perfect. It has a high roof and a projector so we can all see what James is doing on his laptop (even if we don’t understand it).
These Goldfish are good. There isn’t much better then Ruby and a cup full of Goldfish.
I need to do more Ruby hacking before the next meeting. Right now I am way too …

So far, everything I have ever learned about web design has come from my own online learning, great friends, and lots of books from the library. I think I’ve gotten a good start but there’s a lot more I need to learn and even more that I want to learn. Nowadays you can learn about anything you want through the power of the internet but wouldn’t college be a much better way to learn things? I think the answer is sometimes but not always.
After browsing through the courses offered at MCC I’ve created a list of 10 classes that I think would be worth taking. One of the classes I was interested in is a required class to receive the Web Developer Certificate of Completion. The class is called Introduction to JavaScript. I know enough JavaScript to …
What? Two posts in one day? Don’t get used to it I just had to show you this.
Ben Bleikamp over at College Startup wrote a post today titled “Is college really necessary?” When I saw that title I thought for sure he knew I read his blog. His question is almost exactly the same as what I was asking you yesterday. No, he didn’t copy anything from my poorly written post and he probably hasn’t even seen this site.
According to his blog Ben is a sophomore in college at Ohio State University studying finance and entrepreneurship. Although he never really gives an answer to the question he does give good reasons for going to college and for not going to college. For the most part I think he is happy with his decision to go to college …
